In the US, scammers are selling "Trump Bucks" to former US President Donald Trump's most dedicated supporters, according to NBC News. They sell these alleged securities in groups on social networks, where the Trumpists “build conspiracy theories and plan the return of Trump to power.”
They are coins with the profile of the former president, as well as all kinds of certificates and cards, and are positioned as a "golden ticket" that will allow Trump to take the presidency again. The scammers who sell them promise that the owners of "Trump bucks", "true patriots", will be able to sell them after the 2024 presidential election and get rich.
According to one of Trump's supporters, John Amann, who bought "Trump Bucks" and other similar certificates totaling $2,200, he once walked into a bank and demanded to monetize them. However, Amann was denied this due to the fact that they have no real value and are only a souvenir.
NBC News was able to discover that Colorado-based companies such as Patriots Dynasty, Patriots Future and USA Patriots are behind these scams. In addition, the publication was able to find dozens of posts on social networks, as well as advertisements promoting these souvenirs, and many complaints about them. NBC News contacted "at least ten people" who gave away thousands of dollars to scammers, believing that "Trump bucks" were distributed with the knowledge of the former US president himself.
Donald Trump lost to Joseph Biden in the 2020 presidential election. In 2024, he intends to run again for the presidency of the United States as the candidate of the Republican Party. Trump's supporters are known for their adherence to conspiracy theories, and Trump himself often repeats Kremlin narratives. So, in March 2023, he announced the possibility of transferring the “Russian-speaking” territories of Ukraine to Russia to end the war.
