The Ministry of Public Security of the Sverdlovsk Region stated that they contacted the police because of a car rally organized by the regional office of Wagner PMC. According to E1.RU, the department called the action illegal, noting that they had previously refused to approve it.
Despite the fact that the Ministry of Public Security rejected the request for a motor rally, on the morning of May 28, about 150 cars with Russian flags and flags with the emblem of PMCs drove through the streets of Yekaterinburg. The end point of the route was a cemetery in the city of Berezovsky, where there is a sector with the graves of mercenaries. E1.RU writes that many of the Wagnerites buried here died near Bakhmut.
“I am the organizer, if I have to answer within the law, I will definitely answer questions [about this action],” a person who introduced himself as the head of the Wagner PMC regional office in the Sverdlovsk region told E1.RU. The publication does not name the name of this person, only the "call sign" – "Guardian".
After the run to the cemetery, a memorial service was held, which was served by the rector of the local church, Father Kirill.
Earlier, the Ministry of Public Security explained the refusal to approve the action by the fact that the application was submitted too late, and in addition, the basic readiness regime introduced by Vladimir Putin in October last year continues to operate in the Sverdlovsk Region.
