In Turkey, the second round of the presidential elections has ended , all polling stations have closed and the counting of ballots has begun.
For the first time in the history of the country, the outcome of the elections could not be determined in the first round. According to the law, until 21:00 in Turkey there is a ban on broadcasting about the results of the vote, but it can be lifted by decision of the CEC.
As a result, the CEC lifted this ban at 18:15. More than 55% of the votes have been counted so far. The incumbent Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is gaining 55.80% of the vote, while his rival, the leader of the united opposition Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, is gaining 44.20%.
In the first round of the Turkish presidential elections, none of the candidates received more than 50% of the votes needed to win. Recep Tayyip Erdogan received 49.52% of the vote, the leader of the united opposition, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, 44.88%, and the nationalist Sinan Ogan, 5.17%. In the second round, Ogan supported Erdogan.
