South Africa will grant diplomatic immunity to the participants of the BRICS summit, where Putin, who was put on the wanted list, was invited

The South African government will grant diplomatic immunity to participants in two meetings of officials from the BRICS group of countries, which are scheduled for the coming months. This is happening against the backdrop of Vladimir Putin's expected trip to South Africa. The decision is reported in the government newspaper, Bloomberg drew attention .

BRICS is an interstate association, an alliance of five states: Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa .  

Immunity will apply to the participants in the meeting of foreign ministers of these countries who will gather in Cape Town on June 1-2. It will also be provided to the participants of the BRICS Heads of State Summit scheduled for August 22-24.

Earlier, South Africa invited Vladimir Putin to take part in the BRICS summit in August. In March, Putin was put on the wanted list by the International Criminal Court (ICC) on charges related to Russia's war with Ukraine. As a member of the Mus, South Africa is under an obligation to arrest him if he appears.
