“I will continue to fight for my inalienable right to own a kangaroo.” Navalny published correspondence with the administration of the colony

Alexei Navalny published the answers of the administration of the colony to some of his requests. In particular, he asked to give him a balalaika, to allow him to have a kangaroo in the cell and to assign the 10th dan in karate to a cellmate who killed a man with his bare hands:

“When you are sitting in a punishment cell and you have little entertainment, then you can have fun by correspondence with the prison administration. A few responses from SG-6 to my statements:

1. “At your request, we inform you: no, two packs of shag, a bottle of mash and a balalaika cannot be given to you in the ShIZO.”

2. “At your request, we inform you: nunchucks and a pole cannot be issued to you in the ShIZO cell.”

3. “In response to your request that a megaphone be given to a psycho in the opposite cell so that he could yell even louder, we inform you that a megaphone cannot be given to the ShIZO cell.”

4. “The kimono and black belt you requested cannot be given to you in the ShIZO cell.”

5. “In response to your demand to assign the 10th dan in karate to your cellmate who killed a man with his bare hands, we inform you that the issue of awarding qualification ranks in the martial arts system is not being considered by the administration of the institution.”

6. “In response to your request to provide your squad leader with a massage chair to relieve stress, we inform you that we do not have a massage chair.”

7. "We can't tell you the names of service dogs" (it was also verbally explained that if I knew the names of the dogs, I could make friends with them and use this to escape).

8. “In response to your request to clarify whether you need permission to keep the Maybug, we inform you that the indicated insect belongs to the animal kingdom and cannot be issued to you.”

9. But the most important and blatant. I won't leave it like this. According to the PVR, a convict may keep an animal with the permission of the administration. I officially demanded to give me permission to keep an animal – a kangaroo. I was refused due to the fact that a kangaroo is a two-bladed marsupial, and such kangaroos are prohibited in the ShIZO.

I will continue to fight for my inalienable right to own a kangaroo."

On May 22, Navalny was sent to a punishment cell for the 16th time. In total, since August last year, he was assigned 180 days of isolation. He repeatedly ended up there for various reasons, for example, because he said the word "fuck" in a conversation with a cellmate or because he violated the uniform and did not wear a jacket. In the ShIZO, people with hygiene problems and patients with the flu were placed next to Navalny. At some point, a man with a mental disorder was placed in the next cell, who screamed day and night, making it impossible to sleep. Navalny also told how the administration of the colony shows him the food he bought and then throws it away as expired.
