SBU arrested new assets of Medvedchuk’s wife Oksana Marchenko for almost UAH 740 million

A court in Ukraine arrested another portion of the assets of Oksana Marchenko (the wife of Putin's godfather Viktor Medvedchuk) in the amount of about 740 million hryvnia, according to the Security Service of Ukraine.

The arrest was imposed on shares in 7 port infrastructure enterprises in the Odessa region: Eximnaftoprodukt JSC, Sintez Oil PrJSC, Sintez Transit PrJSC, Ukrloudsistem LLC, Odesnefteprodukt JSC, Chernomorsky Fuel Terminal PrJSC and Albion LLC Commodities".

Parts in these companies Marchenko owned through a number of offshore structures. These companies are of strategic importance in the transportation of fuel and other critical cargoes through the Black Sea.

In April of this year, Marchenko was put on the wanted list in Ukraine. At the end of February, the court seized the property of Marchenko, “suspected of financing Russian occupational groups,” in the amount of more than $150 million. Before that, the SBU charged Medvedchuk’s wife with financing the National Guard. As the investigation established, Marchenko used the assets of three investment companies in Kyiv to register a company in Yalta with an authorized capital of one billion rubles. This Crimean company signed contracts with the structures of the National Guard and the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for their protection. The scheme continued to work after the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Ukrainian oligarch Viktor Medvedchuk, also known as Vladimir Putin's godfather, was detained by the SBU in April 2022 after he escaped from house arrest. He was accused of high treason and attempted embezzlement of national resources in Crimea. In September 2022, Medvedchuk was exchanged for the defenders of Azovstal. Later, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stripped him of his Ukrainian citizenship.
