The death toll from cider poisoning in the Ulyanovsk region rose to 16. The entrepreneur who produced the drink was detained

The death toll from poisoning with the surrogate alcoholic drink "Mr. Cider" in the Ulyanovsk region has risen to 16. This was announced by the governor of the region Alexei Russkikh in the official Telegram channel.

According to him, a total of 35 people were poisoned, 19 of them are in hospitals. The governor noted that now "doctors are fighting for the life of everyone."

The Ministry of Health of the region has sent out special instructions for ambulance crews when they detect patients with poisoning of any etymology. Reserve therapeutic, hemodialysis and resuscitation beds have been created in hospitals of the region.”

Russkikh also wrote that there was one underage girl among the victims. Law enforcement officers are yet to find out how she acquired the alcoholic drink. In the region, preventive raids began on all points of sale of alcohol, including bottling shops.

An entrepreneur who produced low-quality alcoholic products was detained in the Ulyanovsk region, TASS reports with reference to the Investigative Committee of the Russian Investigative Committee for the Ulyanovsk region.

Earlier, the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case in connection with the manufacture and sale of a low-quality alcoholic beverage after several residents of Dimitrovgrad were hospitalized with poisoning by an unknown substance. Rospotrebnadzor urged not to drink drinks of this brand until the end of the investigation.
