After poisoning with the drink “Mr. Cider”, 28 people died in seven regions. Impurities of methanol and ethyl butyrate found in cider

After poisoning with the alcoholic drink "Mr. Cider", 28 people died in seven regions of Russia, the largest number of deaths – 18 people – in the Ulyanovsk region. More than 50 victims are also known, and their number is constantly growing. According to the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Telegram channel, in the cider that poisoned the inhabitants of several regions, our impurities are methanol and ethyl butyrate.

18 people died in Ulyanovsk, 7 – in the Samara region, 2 – in Nizhny Novgorod and 1 – in Udmurtia.

After drinking a drink produced in the Samara region, residents of the Ulyanovsk, Samara and Nizhny Novgorod regions, as well as Udmurtia, were taken to hospitals with poisoning. The first case of cider poisoning was also recorded in Chuvashia, now the victim is being provided with medical assistance. Three more girls were hospitalized in the city hospitals of Penza, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation reported.

Earlier, Rospotrebnadzor decided to confiscate all products of the Andi company, which sells counterfeit cider in retail chains and wholesale depots. The owner of the organization has already been caught selling non-certified alcoholic products in the past, then he got off with a warning. Now he was detained – he faces up to 10 years in prison.

Deputy Yaroslav Nilov reacted to the situation with the poisoning. He said in a conversation with Caution Media that the LDPR sees a solution to the problem in the introduction of a complete state monopoly on the production and sale of alcohol-containing products:

“This is what we repeat after each case of mass poisoning with surrogate or counterfeit alcohol in the Russian Federation. Not only will this alone give an increase in the budget by about 10%, it will also solve all problems with counterfeit products by 99%. Alcohol poisoning, unless, of course, it was produced at home in artisanal conditions, will be reduced to zero.

According to Nilov, the Liberal Democratic Party has repeatedly introduced a similar bill, but it has not yet been adopted.

Rospotrebnadzor in Moscow withdraws alcoholic products from sale after cases of poisoning. Russians are urged not to drink this drink and to immediately inform the authorities if they notice Mr. Cider on sale. After the mass death of Russians due to poisoning, a toxicologist from the Moscow Federal Medical and Biological Agency of Russia arrived in the Ulyanovsk region.

Police officers are looking for two men involved in the production and sale of "Mr. Cider". Baza claims that we are talking about 36-year-old Anton Frolov and 27-year-old Aslanov Ramil. The owner of the manufacturing company, 32-year-old Anar Huseynov, has already been detained.
