More than 1.5 thousand houses were flooded, the village of Korsunka went under water after the destruction of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station

More than 1.5 thousand houses were flooded on the right bank of the Dnieper in the Kherson region after the destruction of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station, Alexander Prokudin, head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration (OVA), reports on Telegram. The occupation authorities of the region also report on the consequences of the accident: according to the "head" of the Kherson region Vladimir Saldo, from 22,000 to 40,000 people ended up in the disaster zone.

An emergency regime has been introduced in the Kherson region, TASS reports with reference to emergency services.

Prokudin claims that the intensity of flooding is decreasing, but "due to the significant destruction of the dam, water will still come." According to his forecasts, the water level could rise by another meter over the next 20 hours. 1,457 people have already been evacuated from the coastal zone, the "head" of the region said.

Also, after the destruction of the hydroelectric power station, the village of Korsunka on the left bank of the Dnieper was completely submerged due to uncontrolled discharge of water from the Kakhovka reservoir, Vladimir Leontiev, the “head” of the administration of Novaya Kakhovka, established by the Russian Federation, said . He claims that the settlements of Dnepryan, Krynki, Cossack Camps are flooded to the roof.

On the morning of June 6, the dam at the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station collapsed, after some time there were reports and videos, according to which the hydroelectric power station was completely destroyed and went under water. Ukrhydroenergo said that the hydroelectric power station cannot be restored. The Ukrainian operational command "South" claims that Russian troops blew up the hydroelectric dam. Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, specified that, according to preliminary data, this was done by the 205th motorized rifle brigade of the RF Armed Forces.

The Insider drew attention to the fact that a week before the explosion at the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station, the Russian authorities allowed not to investigate accidents at hazardous facilities in the "DPR, LPR", Zaporozhye region and Kherson region, which occurred as a result of "military actions" and terrorist attacks. The exact cause of the collapse is still unknown. At the same time, the inhabitants of Novaya Kakhovka heard explosions and saw a signal rocket before the destruction of the dam, they discussed what had happened even before the appearance of media reports in the city Telegram channels.
