Fake RIA Novosti: two-thirds of the bomb shelters in Kyiv are unusable

RIA "Novosti" in the publication under the heading "Ukraine in the "knockout". Attacks on Kyiv opened the terrible” reports:

“In Kyiv, they admitted that they were not ready to repel missile strikes. <…>

There are more than four thousand shelters in Kyiv: basement basements, underground car parks, crossings, metro. The total capacity is 2.7 million people. <…> After checking, the mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko, said that 10% of the shelters were not working, and 63% were in poor condition.

RIA distorted Klitschko's statement by exactly half. The mayor of Kiev published the results of the inspection in his Telegram channel.

Indeed, 10% of the bomb shelters turned out to be closed, as RIA Novosti stated; more precisely, there was no permanent secure access to them. But Russian propagandists reported exactly the opposite about the state of the shelters. The condition of 63% of shelters is satisfactory, 37% is unsatisfactory. This, of course, is also a lot, and in some areas of the city the situation is dangerous, but in general it is not at all as catastrophic as RIA is trying to present.

The population of Kiev before the war was a little less than 3 million people. Exact information on how many residents in the city now is not publicly available.
