The level of the Kakhovka reservoir fell below a critical level – Ukrhydroenergo

The water level in the Kakhovka reservoir has already fallen below the point at which water withdrawal is possible for many settlements and the Zaporozhye NPP. This was stated in "Ukrhydroenergo".

“The level is already 12.5 meters. This is lower than the “dead spot”, 12.7 meters, when we cannot take water in settlements and for the Zaporizhzhya NPP,” said Igor Sirota, head of the company.

According to Sirota, if the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station is destroyed to the ground, then in a few days the reservoir will narrow to the former width of the Dnieper channel, to 1–1.2 km.

According to Ukrhydroenergo, the water level drop will continue for another 7-8 days and will stop at around 3 meters. Now the water level is dropping by a meter a day.

The head of the administration of the Nikopol district, Yevgeny Yevtushenko, said earlier that due to the shallowing of the Kakhovka reservoir, most of the Nikopol district of the Dnipropetrovsk region could be left without tap water.
