A 53-year-old Crimean Tatar and ex-chairman of the Youth Mejlis Eldar Mensitov disappeared in Crimea. It is reported by "Crimean solidarity". The last time he talked to his wife and was in touch at 14:30 on June 8, after that he did not return home, they cannot find him. The wife of Elvira Mensitova turned to the police, now the security forces are in the house. Lawyer Mensitova said that they saw a car near the shopping center that looked like the car of a Crimean Tatar.

“Eldar Mensitov works in the area of the Central Market in Simferopol. Yesterday, at half past two, he called his wife, said that he would go to the MFC to resolve issues with documents and then go home. The MFC is located near the bus station. At half past four, without waiting for her husband, she called him. The phone was turned off. Assuming that her husband could be late on business, she did not immediately look for him. But today he has been gone for a day,” said lawyer Safiye Shabanova. She is searching with her relatives.

In September 2021, Mensitov’s house was searched in connection with the case of sabotage on the gas pipeline near Perevalnoye. He was detained and taken to the FSB in Simferopol, but he was later released. Mensitov was a defense witness in a criminal case initiated by the “Crimean authorities” against the leader of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, Mustafa Dzhemilev.

The Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people has been banned since 2016 in Crimea and on the territory of the Russian Federation, and is included in the list of extremist organizations, despite the demands of international organizations to cancel this decision.
