The Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine called the possible reasons for the undermining of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station by the Russian military

Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Anna Malyar said in her Telegram channel that the Russian military blew up the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station in order to complicate the de-occupation of the left bank of the Kherson region and transfer forces to other areas.

According to her, recently the most combat-ready units of the Russian army have been transferred to Zaporozhye and near Bakhmut. We are talking about the marines, the airborne forces and the forces of the 49th army of the Russian Federation.

Malyar writes that the Russian army, suffering losses and being limited in terms of reserves, decided to “narrow down” the geography of possible offensive actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine by blowing up the dam. It also admits the presence of a second goal – to divert the attention of the Ukrainian defense forces to the elimination of a man-made disaster, thus making it impossible to de-occupy the territories of the Kherson region, which are now under the control of Russia, in the near future.

The breakthrough of the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station occurred on the night of June 6. According to Western and Ukrainian experts, it was produced from inside her. As a result, a significant part of the Kherson region was flooded. Some settlements were completely under water, people and animals suffered. The Russian occupation authorities on the left bank do not allow volunteers to enter these territories and do not allow local residents to evacuate.
