The governor of the Pskov region is going to create a territorial defense system. The region borders with Belarus, Latvia and Estonia

The Governor of the Pskov region, Mikhail Vedernikov, announced on his Telegram channel the creation of the Pskov Territorial Defense.

According to him, this decision was made after the regional administration analyzed the "events" in the Belgorod region. Vedernikov said that the Pskov region "should be ready for any development of events." The region borders with Belarus, Latvia and Estonia.

The governor said that the recruitment of fighters in the defense will begin "in the near future." He called the main task of the new structure "assistance to law enforcement agencies in case of possible emergencies." This includes putting out fires, dealing with emergencies, and helping to patrol "important facilities."

In May, the Legion "Freedom of Russia" (LS) and the "Russian Volunteer Corps" (RDK), fighting on the side of Ukraine, announced operations to " liberate " the territory of the Belgorod region from the Putin regime. The region is under constant shelling, and evacuation is taking place in some settlements.

At the same time, a territorial defense was formed in the Belgorod region, which consists of seven battalions. At the end of May 2023, Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov announced that he was looking for a "legal basis" for arming these formations so that they could "repulse the enemy."
