A Chechen woman was detained at the Moscow airport, who ran away from home due to violence and wanted to leave for Germany

At Moscow's Vnukovo airport, police detained a 19-year-old Chechen woman, Selima Ismailova, who ran away from home because of violence (she said her father regularly beat her). This is reported by the human rights project "Marem". The girl tried to fly to Germany.

According to the Consortium of Women's NGOs, now they want to hand over the detained girl to the Chechen security forces – the police said that she was allegedly a suspect in a criminal case of theft and was wanted. Now she is accompanied by two lawyers from the Center for Victims of Domestic Violence.

Ismailova was born in Chechnya. When she was 12, her family moved to Germany. The girl complained about domestic violence and appealed to the Youth Affairs Department, but later retracted her words under pressure, human rights activists report. In 2021, the family returned to Chechnya again, and her father continued to beat and threaten her.

On March 5, Selima left Chechnya with the help of the human rights group Marem. On March 14, she wrote a statement stating that she left voluntarily and that no search activities were carried out in connection with her escape.

Recall that in February, at the request of Chechnya, Idris Arsamikov was detained in Domodedovo because of his orientation (a few years ago he was already kidnapped near Grozny, beaten and tortured with electric current). A few days later, a video appeared on the network in which Idris said that he was going to fight in Ukraine and was preparing to marry. "I'm a patriot. Soon I will heal and also go to Ukraine. I’m a man and I’m going to get married soon,” Idris says in a video posted on his VKontakte page.
