Former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi dies at 87

Former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has died in a hospital in Milan, according to Italian media.

Berlusconi served four times as Prime Minister of Italy (1994-1995, 2001-2005, 2005-2006, 2008-2011). Berlusconi holds the record for the longest tenure as prime minister in the Italian Republic.

Berlusconi became the first multi-billionaire to head the government of a European state. He was one of the richest people in Italy: an insurance magnate, owner of banks and media, the owner of a controlling stake in Fininvest.

In the late 1970s, he created the first major commercial television network in Europe. For 30 years, from 1986 to 2016, he was the owner of the AC Milan football club.

In 2011, according to Forbes magazine, Berlusconi with a fortune of $ 7.8 billion was in 118th place in the ranking of the richest people in the world, in 2005 (the year of the highest result) with $ 12 billion he was in 25th place.
