The State Duma adopted in the first reading a bill on extrajudicial blocking of sites for calls to donate to the Armed Forces of Ukraine

The State Duma adopted a bill in the first reading, according to which it will be possible to block websites with calls to finance the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other armed formations fighting on the side of Ukraine. The document proposes to make appropriate amendments to the law “On information, information technologies and information protection”.

According to the bill, the Prosecutor General and his deputies will be able to directly apply to Roskomnadzor for the operational blocking of sites.

The document, submitted to the State Duma in September, provides for the blocking of Internet resources that contain proposals “on financing the enemy in the context of an armed conflict, hostilities, counter-terrorist operations or other actions using weapons and military equipment in which the Russian Federation takes part”, as well as information on how to transfer money for such purposes.

The bill was introduced by deputies from the State Duma commission to investigate the facts of interference of foreign states in the internal affairs of Russia. According to the head of the commission, Vasily Piskarev, foreign media and NGOs "disseminate information with proposals for financing the Armed Forces of Ukraine and instructions on how it is supposedly safe to transfer money to Ukrainian funds and organizations." “Their final recipients are militants and Nazis,” Piskarev said.

Since March, the FSB has reported at least three Russians detained for transferring money to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In all cases, cases of treason were initiated.
