Lilia Chanysheva was sentenced to 7 years and 6 months in prison

The Kirovsky District Court of Ufa has sentenced the former coordinator of Navalny's regional headquarters, Lilia Chanysheva. Judge Azamat Bikchurin sentenced her to 7 years and 6 months in prison on charges of creating an extremist community, calling for extremism and creating an organization that violates the rights of citizens.

The court also sentenced Ufa activist Rustem Mulyukov, whose case was merged with that of Chanysheva. He was found guilty of participating in an extremist community and sentenced to 2 years and 6 months in a penal colony.

The prosecutor's office requested 12 years in prison for Chanysheva. The defendant pleaded not guilty, stating in her final statement that the actions she was accused of as a crime were the usual work of a politician. “I am a politician, a woman who is persecuted by male opponents. Their names are [Vladimir] Putin and [Head of Bashkiria Radiy] Khabirov.”

Chanysheva was arrested in Ufa in November 2021. Soon she was transferred to a Moscow pre-trial detention center, where she remained until February 2023, after which the accused was again transferred to the capital of Bashkiria.

In March, one of the witnesses for the prosecution stated at a court hearing that she did not consider Chanysheva guilty and that she had signed a statement against her after the abduction and threats.
