Tomsk journalist, arrested in the case of the Telegram channel “Chto-Delat!”, was transferred to a mental hospital for examination

Igor Kuznetsov, a Tomsk journalist for RusNews, was transferred from the Moscow SIZO-4 to the Research Institute. Serbsky for a psychological and psychiatric examination. This was announced in the Telegram channel by lawyer Alexei Pryanishnikov.

Kuznetsov was arrested in September 2021 in a criminal case on “inciting to disorder” (Article 212 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) via Telegram. Later, he was charged with creating an extremist community (Article 282.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

In addition to Kuznetsov, 10 more people from different regions of Russia are involved in the case of inciting riots: Vyacheslav Abramov, Nikita Kreshchuk, Alexei Kurlov, Dmitry Lamanov, Igor Nagibin, Maria Platonova, Ildar Sadriev, Dmitry Chebanov, Zhanna Chernova, Alexei Yanochkin. They are charged with calling for mass protests during the election days of September 17–19, 2021.

In September of that year, the Investigative Committee announced the initiation of a criminal case for inciting mass riots through a messenger, known as the case of the Chto-Delat! Telegram channel.
