The Lithuanian Ministry of Economy is proposing to the Lithuanian government to impose a temporary ban on the land transportation of certain dual-use goods that Russia can use in the war against Ukraine, BNS reports .
The ban is proposed to be introduced for a period of one year. Minister of Economy of Lithuania Ausrine Armonaitė notes the increase in the transit of such goods through the territory of the country to third countries. According to her, the components in question are produced outside of Lithuania and follow land routes through Belarus and Russia. It is noted that, for example, according to statistics, the export of monitors and projectors to Kyrgyzstan increased by 36 times, and to Kazakhstan – by 7.5 times.
The ministry suspects that "some sensitive goods" may end up being used as part of Russian weapons.
Armonaite said that possible restrictions could affect both sanctioned electronics and goods that are not on the sanction lists. She called on Latvia, Estonia, Finland and Norway to take a joint decision on this matter.
In early June, it became known that the Estonian authorities stopped an attempt to export to Russia a batch of ball bearings that could be used for the needs of the military industry.
