The new model of AvtoVAZ Lada Aura started up not the first time at the presentation of the car to the head of Sberbank German Gref as part of a meeting of officials and journalists who came to SPIEF and attended the business breakfast of Sberbank.
First, the head of AvtoVAZ, Maxim Sokolov, together with the Minister of Finance Anton Siluanov, drove around the hotel in a car. After that, Sokolov decided to demonstrate the car to German Gref, surrounded by journalists, but the car did not start. Here is how Fontanka describes it further:
“They broke the car,” Gref joked. “Well, what to do, prototype,” Sokolov replied. But when Siluanov got behind the wheel again, the car instantly started up. “That's what a real minister means,” commented the head of AvtoVAZ, after which Siluanov at the wheel and Sokolov in the back seat drove off in a Lada Aura to SPIEF. Gref did not keep them company.
The Lada Aura model, an elongated sedan based on Vesta, was officially presented on June 8, 2023 at the Eurasia is Our Home exhibition in Sochi.
