Viktor Moskalev, an employee of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology who is accused of spreading "fakes" about the Russian army, was sent to compulsory psychiatric treatment, OVD-Info reports , citing his lawyers. The Babushkinsky District Court of Moscow ruled to transfer him to an "organization providing psychiatric care."
He will be in a general hospital until July 16, 2023. He is forbidden to receive and send letters, as well as use the telephone and the Internet. For this period, the court canceled the decision to place Moskalev in custody.
The reason for this, according to one of his lawyers, Mikhail Biryukov, was the statements of the defendant. Forensic experts recognized him as insane for the words "I'm telling the truth" and "in a year or two I will come out a hero." They also noted his "lack of criticism".
At the same time, the lawyer confirmed that Moskalev has mental features. But since he poses no threat to society, the defense insists on outpatient treatment.
On April 9, 2022, Moskalev wrote comments on the e-xecutive.ru management community forum in which he said that the Russian army had destroyed Mariupol and was also shelling Chernihiv, Kharkov and Kiev. He noted the unceremonious treatment of the Russian military with the civilian population, accused them of rape and murder, as well as looting. In March 2023, they came to Moskalev with a search, after which he was placed under arrest in a criminal case on the spread of fakes.
