The mother of the deceased conscript from the Tyumen region was charged with discrediting the Russian Armed Forces. The son of Alla Fatkhelislamova, Afanasy Podaev, died at the end of 2022 as a result of shelling – he was serving on the border with Ukraine in the Belgorod region. Athanasius was 19 years old at the time of his death. The reason for the denunciation is a video interview that the woman gave to Novaya Gazeta.ru. Europe".

“They arrived [from the police], showed on the phone that a denunciation had been received. Why did you give the interview? They didn't even know that my son was dead. A couple of days later they came to my work, brought a paper version of the application to read. “We ask you to severely punish Fathelislamova Alla for discrediting,” the woman cites the denunciation from memory. – [Written], they say, even during the Great Patriotic War, relatives did not have the right to speak out against. And my words [from the interview] are also printed there,” said Fatkhelislamova.

The denunciation was written by a woman named Anna Korobkova. Her name is often mentioned in the media – Korobkova actually put the denunciation on stream. According to anthropologist Alexandra Arkhipova, during the war, Korobkova sent 764 denunciations to the authorities. This was brought to the attention of DOXA.

The local edition 72.ru notes that Afanasy's parents have not yet received all the due payments. The authorities and the Ministry of Defense promised that both parents would receive a little more than six million rubles. Afanasy's father Oleg even wanted to transfer part of the money to the fund for helping sick children. Almost five months later, the required money – five million rubles for two parents – came only from the military.

Oleg Podaev said that his son dreamed of becoming a cook, opening his own cafe. But before that, he decided to serve in the army for a year. The military commissar, according to his father, swore that Athanasius would not be sent to the border with Ukraine, says Podaev.

“I studied as a culinary and confectionery technologist, I wanted to open my own cafe, work, but before that, I said, I had to serve a year in the army in order to live in peace. It was amazing – he is an athlete, at home there are a lot of awards from ski races, football matches. He could become a coach easily. But here he rested – the cook, we supported, of course, – says Podaev Sr. Who knew he wouldn't have to live? After all, the military commissar swore that conscripts were not even allowed close to the border, not to mention the combat zone. He looked into the eyes and lied: “The guys will serve a thousand kilometers from Ukraine!” How many times did the military say this?! We believed them."

According to the parents, the command constantly offered Athanasius to sign a contract, but his son refused.

“In October, I call my son, and bombs explode nearby,” his mother told the media. – I was alarmed, let's find out – it turned out that they secretly took them to the very border. (…) They were in the trenches pulling a communication cable with another boy. Drones started firing at them. My son was cut off almost his entire head by a shrapnel. The second one was only shell-shocked, but for some reason he ended up on a tree. It was he who confirmed that our son had definitely died, – says the mother. – The daughter then contacted him, we did not believe for a long time. Until his body was brought from Rostov to Tyumen in mid-December, we hoped to the last for a miracle, an accidental mistake.
