US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken arrived in Beijing. He became the first senior US diplomat to visit China in five years.

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken is in Beijing for a two-day visit, AP reported . He has become Washington's highest-ranking representative in Beijing since 2018.

Blinken will stay in Beijing for two days. He is scheduled to meet with Foreign Minister Qin Gang, leading Chinese diplomat Wang Yi, and possibly talk with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Blinken's trip to China was planned back in February, but was postponed after the US shot down a Chinese reconnaissance balloon. The PRC protested and said it was a meteorological probe.

On February 13, it was also reported that the US military shot down an unidentified object near the Canadian border. Another unidentified flying object was shot down over Alaska on February 10th.
