The court in Moldova recognized the pro-Russian party “Shor” as outlawed

The Constitutional Court of Moldova recognized the pro-Russian Shor party as unconstitutional and outlawed it. It is reported by RIA Novosti.

Party deputies will be able to continue their activities, but only as independent parliamentarians, according to the decision of the Constitutional Court.

The country's government has previously stated that the party "acted contrary to the principles of the rule of law and endangered the sovereignty and independence of the Republic of Moldova" and demanded its liquidation.

Shor actively interacted with the Russian authorities, its deputies visited Moscow after the start of a full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. The party also organized protests against the current government.

The United States imposed sanctions against Shor and its ex-chairman Ilan Shor. He was sentenced in absentia in Moldova to 15 years in prison, the authorities tried to extradite him from Israel for organizing riots in order to "undermine the democratic development of Moldova."

Earlier, the EU imposed sanctions against the son of the ex-Prosecutor General of Russia, Yuri Chaika, Igor Chaika, due to the “destabilization” of the situation in the Republic of Moldova. Chaika Jr. is responsible for funding "FSB projects aimed at destabilizing Moldova", and also supported actions "threaten the sovereignty, independence, democracy, rule of law and the stability of the republic." At the same time, the leader of the pro-Russian Shor party, Ilan Shor, his deputy Marina Tauber, the leader of the Building Europe at Home party, Georgy Cavkalyuk, and the Moldovan oligarch Vladimir Plahotniuc, were sanctioned at the same time. The list also includes the Russian singer Jasmine, who is Shor's wife.
