The head of the Yekaterinburg “Memorial” was fined for a photo with a poster “No to war”, taken before the start of “SVO” at an agreed rally

Aleksey Mosin, head of the Yekaterinburg Memorial Society, was fined 100,000 rubles for "discrediting" the army. According to Sota, the reason was a photograph in which he is depicted with a “No to war” poster.

Mosin told the court that the photo was taken at a government-approved rally back on February 12, 2022, almost two weeks before the start of a full-scale invasion of Russian troops into Ukraine. An article about "discrediting" the army appeared in the Code of Administrative Offenses in March of the same year.

Sota also notes that the photo of Mosin with an anti-war poster was published on the website of the Ural "Memorial", to which neither he nor the Yekaterinburg "Memorial" have anything to do. The Ministry of Internal Affairs was represented in court by a policeman named Fomichev, who did not participate in the preparation of the protocol against Mosin and told the court that he had read the case materials “out of curiosity”.

Earlier in June, the Yekaterinburg branch of Memorial was fined 300,000 rubles for a publication posted on the website of the Ural-based Memorial.
