On June 20, an explosion occurred at the Tambov gunpowder factory, after which a fire started. As the Governor of the Tambov region Maxim Yegorov said on his Telegram channel, there are dead and injured.
Baza clarifies that, according to preliminary data, four people died and two were injured. The Telegram channel writes that the explosion occurred in shop number 3.
“The cause of the fire is the human factor. I can unequivocally declare that this is not a terrorist attack, ”Egorov wrote, adding that he urgently left for the place.
The message about the explosion and fire was received by the Ministry of Emergency Situations at 14:10 local time. According to the governor, the area of the fire was 1 m², it was extinguished in a few minutes. The plant continues to operate normally.
In January, regional media reported that the Tambov gunpowder plant, along with other military enterprises for the production of ammunition and special chemicals, was taken over by Rostec. Previously, it was in federal ownership.
In October 2022, an explosion occurred at the Perm Gunpowder Plant, which produces ammunition for the war in Ukraine, in particular charges for Smerch and Grad multiple launch rocket systems. Then three people died, a criminal case was initiated.
