Scientists Valery Golubkin want to give 12 years in prison for “treason”

The state prosecution requested 12 years in prison for scientist Valery Goluyukin during a debate in the Lefortovsky District Court. This is reported by the human rights project "The First Department".

Golubkin is a professor at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, Doctor of Technical Sciences, a leading researcher at TsAGI, the author of more than 120 scientific papers in the field of aerodynamics. He was engaged in theoretical developments and had only the third form of access to state secrets, that is, he never worked with information classified as “top secret” and “of particular importance,” explains the First Department.

“The FSB saw treason in the fact that Golubkin took part in the official international project <HEXAFLY-INT – High-Speed EXperimental FLY Vehicles – High-Speed Experimental Aircraft>, under a contract concluded between TsAGI and the European Institute, during which, at the direction of his he sent progress reports to his superiors. Permissive documents were obtained for all these reports, confirming the absence of sensitive information in them, ” said Ivan Pavlov, the scientist’s lawyer, earlier.

As the First Department explains, in 2018, his boss, Anatoly Gubanov, attracted Golubkin to work on the HEXAFLY-INT international project to create a passenger aircraft. The investigation claims that two reports on the project, which TsAGI was obliged to submit to partners and which, at the direction of Gubanov, Golubkin handed over to colleagues from the Netherlands, contained state secrets.

According to human rights activists, there was no state secret in the transferred materials, and this was confirmed by three commissions, the reports could even be published. Golubkin does not admit his guilt.
