The creator of the first thermonuclear bomb committed suicide in Moscow

In Moscow, 92-year-old creator of the first Soviet thermonuclear bomb, Grigory Klinishov, committed suicide. According to IA Regnum on June 21, the body of the 92-year-old engineer-physicist was discovered on June 17 by relatives in his apartment on Kosmodamianskaya embankment. According to media reports, Klinishov probably waited until his relatives left home for a while, left a farewell note and committed suicide.

In the note, he asked for forgiveness from his daughter. Recently, he was sick and was very upset by the death of his wife.

Grigory Emelyanovich Klinishov was born on October 30, 1930, laureate of the Lenin Prize. He is one of the creators of the first Soviet two-stage thermonuclear bomb RDS-37. In 1967, Klinishov was awarded the degree of candidate of physical and mathematical sciences. In 1954 he was sent to KB-11, where he acted as an engineer in the theoretical department headed by Andrei Sakharov. In 1973, he headed the theoretical department of KB-11. Since January 2002, Klinishov was appointed the leading researcher of the department.
