In Tatarstan, orphans who go to war with Ukraine are promised apartments out of turn

The State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan is going to pass a law according to which orphans who went to war with Ukraine and those who grew up without parental care will receive a “preferential right” to housing. Writes about this "Kommersant".

Such a measure is needed to “improve social guarantees” for orphans and those left without parental care,” the explanatory note to the bill says.

The publication notes that the state is already obliged to provide orphans with apartments upon reaching the age of 18, but there are not enough funds in the budget for everyone, and orphans have to wait for the promised housing for five years.

In March, it became known that the officials of the Sverdlovsk region settled an orphan who returned from the front, who lost part of his skull in the war, in emergency housing without electricity and with a utility debt of 2 million rubles. A United Russia deputy, Zhanna Ryabtseva, promised to help him with housing and visited him in the hospital. “Regardless of the severity of the wounds, everyone is rushing back to the front … Our people,” she wrote . She did not say anything about solving the housing problem.
