Ruslan Ushakov, the author of the True Crime Telegram channel, who is accused of spreading military “fakes” and inciting terrorism, told the court that during his arrest he was tortured with electric shocks in order to force him to confess. This is reported by OVD-Info with reference to the listeners who were present at the meeting on the Ushakov case.
According to Ushakov, after the arrest, people in civilian clothes applied electricity to his fingers and demanded that he confess. The prosecutor asked if there were signs of torture and if Ushakov had reported the violence before, but Judge Aleksei Grinev dismissed the question, stating that it referred to "a document that was not examined in court."
Ushakov was detained on December 14, 2022. He is accused of spreading "fakes" about the army for political reasons (point "e" of part 2 of article 207.3 of the Criminal Code), calls for terrorism on the Internet (part 2 of article 205.2 of the Criminal Code), rehabilitation of Nazism (part 4 of article 354.1 of the Criminal Code), as well as inciting hatred or enmity with the use of violence or with the threat of its use (paragraph "a" of part 2 of Article 282 of the Criminal Code).
According to OVD-Info, the reason for the prosecution was publications in the telegram channel Real Crime about the shelling of Mariupol and the killings of civilians in Ukraine. Also, according to investigators, his posts contained calls for violence against Vladimir Putin.
