96-year-old mother of a Kaliningrader convicted of “military fakes” will be given to guardianship authorities

The mother of Kaliningrader Igor Baryshnikov, sentenced to 7.5 years on charges of spreading “fake news” about the army, will be taken away by guardianship authorities. It is reported by SOTAvision.

Baryshnikov's mother is 96 years old. She is a war veteran and a victim of the Holocaust. She has no other relatives and no opportunity to take care of herself. According to SOTAvision, a year ago, Evgenia Baryshnikova was in her right mind, but after the first search in their apartment and the eight-day arrest of her son, she became drastically worse. Baryshnikov took care of his mother and ran the household.

On June 22, the Soviet City Court of the Kaliningrad Region sentenced 64-year-old Baryshnikov to 7.5 years in a penal colony. The case was opened because of his Facebook posts about the shelling of a maternity hospital in Mariupol and the killings of Bucha residents. Later, another case was opened under the second part of the article about "fakes" because of the posts that mentioned the sunken cruiser "Moskva" and the crimes of the Russian military in Ukraine. The two cases were soon merged. Baryshnikov was given a written undertaking not to leave.

During the trial, Baryshnikov's health deteriorated and a suspicion of prostate cancer arose. A man has a cystostomy – a tube in the abdomen that goes to the bladder. Doctors insist that he should not be in custody.

“I understand that I didn’t commit any crime: I didn’t kill anyone, I didn’t rob, I didn’t rape. Why should I run somewhere? And where do I run? How will I leave my own mother? She is absolutely helpless now, ”said Baryshnikov before the verdict.
