“Pricked-2”. Patrushev and Shoigu repeated Putin’s already debunked fake about destroyed Ukrainian tanks

Dmitry Kiselyov in Vesti Nedeli spoke about the meeting between Vladimir Putin and the permanent members of the Security Council on June 22. Nikolai Patrushev said at the meeting:

“Today we have the following data. From June 4 to June 21, the following were destroyed: tanks – 246 units, including western ones – 13, armored combat vehicles and armored vehicles – 595 units, including infantry fighting vehicles – 152 units, of which 59 were western, armored combat vehicles – 443 units , field artillery guns and mortars – 279 units, of which 48 are Western. Information on personnel is more scattered, but I can say that it is more than 13 thousand.

Sergei Shoigu later clarified:

“From armored combat vehicles, 59 Western ones were destroyed. To date, all Western-made Bradley 109 armored fighting vehicles have been delivered. Of the 109 Bradley vehicles, 18 were destroyed.

The day before, Putin had already spoken about the losses of Ukraine, and then he announced 245 destroyed or damaged tanks. The Insider wrote about this statement at the same time, pointing out that Putin's figures differ by almost an order of magnitude from those of the Dutch military-analytical project Oryx , which updates the list of confirmed casualties on both sides daily.

However, Oryx includes in its list only those vehicles whose destruction, damage or capture by the enemy is confirmed by photographic evidence, so the publication of the list is preceded by a warning: the actual number of losses may be higher. In addition, it is obvious that the search and verification of photos takes some time, so the information may appear on the site with a delay. But here is the data for June 26: Ukraine lost 551 tanks throughout the war. On June 4, Oryx reported 514 tanks, so most likely no more than 37 tanks were lost during the offensive. Even if we add to this 3 Finnish mine-clearing vehicles based on Leopard 2 , which Oryx does not include in the number of tanks, the numbers will be far from what Putin and Patrushev said.

Shoigu indirectly confirmed the adequacy of the Oryx data by reporting 18 lost Bradley armored vehicles: this exactly corresponds to the data of Dutch analysts as of June 21. By June 26, their number has not changed . But for some reason, it is on tanks that Russian official information differs from Oryx by several times.

In the same program, Kiselev surprised with another statement about Western weapons in the Ukrainian arsenal:

“On Thursday, early in the morning, the Armed Forces of Ukraine fired four cruise missiles at the Chongar bridge on the border between Crimea and the Kherson region. On the fragments of shells – the marking of the French manufacturer. But France did not even report on the supply of cruise missiles to Kyiv.”

In itself, the idea that states helping Ukraine must necessarily announce the delivery of each type of weapon publicly in advance seems somewhat strange. But in the case of the French SCALP-EG missiles, the message was just right: President Emmanuel Macron announced this on May 15 on the TF-1 TV channel.

SCALP-EG is a joint British-French development, in the UK these missiles are called Storm Shadow . They are produced by the international concern MBDA with subdivisions in the UK, Germany, Italy and France. On May 11, Minister of Defense Ben Wallace announced the supply of the British version of the missiles to Ukraine.
