Shaman Gabyshev will be transferred to a milder type of treatment in a general psychiatric hospital

The Ussuriysk District Court decided to transfer the shaman Alexander Gabyshev to a milder type of treatment in a general psychiatric hospital – in the Yakut psycho-neurological dispensary. This was told by his lawyer Alexei Pryanishnikov.

“In less than two years, two hospitals were completed (with intensive observation and a special type). Typically, patients stay in each of these hospitals for two to three years. And yet – now it is a hospital in Alexander's native Yakutsk, ”he wrote.

It was in the Yakut psychiatric clinic that Gabyshev was declared insane and was prescribed haloperidol.

“But let's hope that at least the medical reports from the two previous hospitals will tie the hands of the Yakut psychiatrists and they will not repeat the“ mistakes ”of past years,” the lawyer wrote.

In March 2019, Gabyshev was going to walk 8,000 km from Yakutia to Moscow in order to “expel Putin.” In the fall, a criminal case was initiated against him for public calls for extremist activity, Gabyshev was detained several times, disrupting his “campaign”.

The State Expertise found Gabyshev insane. In May 2020, he was forcibly sent to the Yakut Psychoneurological Dispensary. He stayed there for about two months. Gabyshev then announced a new "march against Moscow", which was to begin in March 2021. In July 2021, the Yakutsk City Court ruled to send Gabyshev to compulsory treatment.

Earlier in a conversation with The Insider, Gabyshev's lawyer noted :

“The whole story with the compulsory treatment of Gabyshev and his alleged insanity is pure punitive psychiatry for the political purposes of the Soviet model, for which the Soviet Union paid with membership in the World Psychiatric Association. But since Soviet times , the forced hospitalization of Gabyshev is the first such case, a precedent.”
