The killer of the “sausage king” was sentenced to 20 years in a strict regime colony

The Moscow Regional Court sentenced Alexander Mavridi to 20 years in prison in a strict regime colony in the case of the murder of Vladimir Marugov, owner of the Meat Empire company. This was reported by the Investigative Committee for the Moscow Region.

The other six defendants in the case were sentenced to imprisonment for terms ranging from 6.5 to 13 years. They were accused of murder, kidnapping, extortion, money laundering or property laundering, false imprisonment, arms trafficking and escape from custody. The UK does not name them.

Mavridi was taken into custody in August 2021. In September of the same year, he escaped from the temporary detention facility, but was quickly caught.

Marugov was the owner and CEO of Stroy-proekt LLC, MPK Meat Empire LLC, MPK Ozeretsky Sausages LLC, SK Teploset LLC, Naska CJSC. A successful career in the meat industry earned him the nickname "sausage king".

Marugov was killed on November 2, 2020 on the territory of his house in the village of Anosino near Istra near Moscow. According to investigators, Mavridi and his accomplice Pasha Akhmedov attacked the businessman and his wife in a bathhouse. Akhmedov beat the woman, and Mavridi shot Marugov with a crossbow and hit him several times on the head with a poker. Akhmedov received 13 years in prison.
