RBC: Elena Mizulina will leave the Federation Council

Senator from the Omsk region Elena Mizulina will leave the Federation Council after the Single Voting Day on September 10. RBC writes about this, citing sources. Mizulina herself did not officially comment on this news.

Mizulina became a senator in 2015. First, she represented the governor of the Omsk region, Viktor Nazarov, then his successor, Alexander Burkov.

Recall that Mizulina initiated a law banning "propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations" among minors, the law was adopted in 2013. At that time, she served as a deputy of the State Duma.

In 2020, Mizulina became a co-author of amendments to family law, which include, among other things, a ban on marriage and adoption of children by persons who have changed their sex.

Mizulina's daughter Ekaterina heads the Safe Internet League, which is known for regularly denouncing bloggers and artists to the police or demanding that they remove certain materials.
