Alyaksandr Lukashenka signed a law allowing to ban the activities of foreign media on the territory of Belarus

Alyaksandr Lukashenka has signed a law that allows to ban the activities of foreign media in Belarus if the states that belong to them commit “unfriendly actions” against Belarusian media. This is reported by his press service.

This law is aimed "to improve the mechanisms for protecting national interests in the media sphere, as well as to expand the tools for responding to unfriendly actions against Belarus."

In addition, the new law expands the list of grounds for revoking a license from the media, and also lists the requirements for the activities of online publications.

To ban the activities of foreign media on the territory of Belarus, a notification from the Ministry of Justice of the country will now be sufficient. The draft law was submitted to the House of Representatives of the Belarusian Parliament by the Council of Ministers.
