Kremlin media say Zelensky ‘cancelled elections’ in Ukraine, citing Trump fan

RIA Novosti, Rossiyskaya Gazeta, RT, TASS and other media are actively quoting ultra-right politician Marjorie Taylor Green, a member of the US Congress. She on her Twitter once again accused the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky of Nazism without evidence and stated that he "cancelled the elections" in Ukraine.

“For some reason, everything falls into place when an actor who wears an army green uniform daily, is fully funded by warmongers from the United States, who just canceled the elections, controls the national media and has a Nazi army, speaks,” RIA Novosti translates the tweet Green.

In addition, it was not even a tweet that attracted the attention of the propaganda media, but just a smiley that businessman Elon Musk left under the news about Zelensky’s statement, who noted that it was impossible to hold elections in Ukraine while the country was at war.

The Kremlin media made a whole story out of this.

“American billionaire Elon Musk posted a monocle emoji on Twitter under the news about Zelensky’s decision to cancel the elections in Ukraine.

This is how Musk reacted to the news that Zelensky refused to hold elections in Ukraine until the fighting ended. Thus, Zelensky extended his tenure as head of state for an indefinite period.

Thus, Musk probably wanted to urge everyone to pay close attention to Zelensky's decision," RIA Novosti wrote .

Zelensky has repeatedlysaid in interviews with various media that it is impossible to hold elections under martial law in Ukraine. However, this is not his decision – such a banis contained in Ukrainian legislation. First of all, it concerns the elections to the Verkhovna Rada, which should have been held in October 2023. Presidential elections in Ukraine are only scheduled for next year, so if Russia is so worried that Zelensky will usurp power, it may withdraw its troops from the neighboring country.

As for Marjorie Taylor Green, her statements have repeatedly attracted the attention of the Anti-Fake column. This prominent representative of the “Trumpian” wing of the Republican Party is known for her supporter of conspiracy theories, in particular, about the “pizzagate”, an alleged club of pedophile Democrats allegedly meeting in a Washington pizzeria. After the 2020 presidential election, she claimed that Trump actually won it, and the Democrats stole his votes. She then stated that Biden should be impeached for health reasons, although this is not provided for by American law. At the end of December 2022, Greene predicted a civil war between "Democratic" states and "Republican" ones. At the end of March 2022, she spoke of Russia's "very successful" actions and Ukraine's lack of a chance to win, although by that time the failure of the original Russian plans to seize Kiev was already obvious. In June, Green said the US should have left NATO and let Putin win.
