Poland to send 500 police officers to the border with Belarus “due to the tense situation”

Poland will reinforce the border with Belarus by 500 police officers, said Polish Interior Minister Mariusz Kaminsky. “Due to the tense situation on the border with Belarus, I decided to reinforce our forces with 500 Polish police officers from preventive and counter-terrorism units,” he wrote on Twitter.

The police will join the 5,000 border guards and 2,000 soldiers who are already guarding the border. According to the Polish border police, on Saturday 187 people tried to illegally cross the territory of Poland from Belarus.

At the end of June, the Polish authorities announced that they would strengthen the defense of the border in connection with the deployment of Wagner PMCs in Belarus. At the end of June, after the rebellion of the Wagnerites and their attempt to go to Moscow, the Russian authorities announced that the Wagner PMC mercenaries would go to Belarus and that special camps were allegedly being built for them.
