The police are investigating. A 31-year-old man suspected of attacking the embassy has been detained.

The deputy from the left-liberal Democrats 66 party, Sjord Sjordsma, urged in his Twitter account not to take such actions “no matter how rightly you may be angry at the regime of Belarus, Russia or other countries.” According to him, such actions endanger Dutch diplomats who are in these countries, making them "more vulnerable."

The regime of Alexander Lukashenko is an ally of Russia and supports the Russian attack on Ukraine. Since 2020, mass political repressions have continued in the country. For anti-war statements and sympathy for Ukraine in Belarus, they can be arrested. So, for example, in October 2022, Vyacheslav Bukas, a resident of Bobruisk, left blue and yellow lamps at the monument to victims of repression. He was found by fingerprints and given 15 days of arrest.
