In Moscow, Vice-Rector of the RANEPA Maxim Nazarov was detained on charges of fraud, Baza reports . He is suspected of fictitious employment in the academy of employees of the Ministry of Education and Science.
He was arrested on June 27, after which he was placed in a temporary detention center. According to the decision of the Tverskoy Court, adopted on June 29, a ban on certain actions was chosen as a preventive measure. Now he cannot use the Internet, mobile communications, or communicate with employees of the RANEPA and the Ministry of Education and Science. The case of Nazarov is being conducted by the Main Investigation Department of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Moscow.
In July 2022, the Tverskoy Court of Moscow sent under house arrest on charges of fraud the rector of the Academy, Vladimir Mau, who headed the RANEPA since its foundation in 2010. In October, the case against him was dropped, and in January 2023 he resigned from his post and went to Israel for treatment. Nazarov replaced Mau for a short time.
The Mau case was connected with the cases of the former Deputy Minister of Education Marina Rakova and the rector of Shaninka Sergei Zuev. They are accused of fraud with money from the budget allocated for the development of education.
