Milashina, a journalist beaten in Chechnya, had her fingers broken when they demanded a password from her phone – Sobchak

The people who attacked Novaya Gazeta journalist Yelena Milashina broke her fingers when they demanded a password from her phone. Ksenia Sobchak writes about this in her Telegram channel.

According to her, Milashina was diagnosed with a closed craniocerebral injury. The journalist is planned to be transported from Chechnya to Vladikavkaz (North Ossetia). After the attack on Milashina and lawyer Alexander Nemov, the defenders of Zarema Musaeva filed a petition with the Akhmatovsky District Court of Grozny to provide their defense, writes Sobchak.

Novaya Gazeta reports that Milashina and Nemov were kicked and beaten with clubs. Milashina lost her creation several times, she had an MRI, but the results are not reported. Nemov has a stab wound in his leg, but he intends to take part in the court session, for which he flew to Grozny.

Novaya Gazeta also reports that human rights commissioner Tatiana Moskalkova intervened in the situation at the request of the editors. According to the Team Against Torture, Milashina spoke to Moskalkova on the phone.

The son of Zarema Musaeva, human rights activist Abubakar Yangulbaev, in an interview with The Insider called the incident "an act of direct violence." “I am sure that it could not take place without the consent of the center,” Yangulbaev stressed.

Milashina and Nemov flew to Chechnya for the sentencing of Zarema Musaeva, who is being defended by Nemov. On the way from the airport to Grozny, the car in which they were traveling was stopped by masked men. The journalist and lawyer were beaten, and equipment and documents were destroyed. They shaved Milashina's head and doused it with brilliant green.

The injured have been hospitalized. A policeman came to the hospital, but Milashina and Nemov refused to talk to him, because they see no point in it.
