Tajik citizen who shot dead two people at Chisinau airport and was wounded during detention dies in hospital

Tajik citizen Rustam Ashurov, who fired at the airport in Chisinau on June 30 and was wounded during detention, died in the hospital. This is reported by NewsMaker with reference to the General Inspectorate of the Police of Moldova.

Ashurov, who flew to Chisinau from Turkey, was denied entry into the country, after which he grabbed a gun from a border guard and opened fire. As a result, a border police officer, Sergei Munteanu, and an airport security inspector, Igor Chofu, died. Ashurov was detained, while he received gunshot wounds and ended up in intensive care.

Later it turned out that 43-year-old Ashurov is a former employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan. He was fired from the police for criminal activity and also went to jail. The Prosecutor General's Office of Tajikistan reported that Ashurov is suspected of being involved in the kidnapping of a banker who disappeared in Dushanbe on June 23.
