The head of the most popular TV network in Serbia, Pink, promised to get rid of “Russophiles” on the air

Zeljko Mitrovic, the CEO and founder of the most popular TV network in Serbia, Pink, promised not to let "Russophiles" on the air. He made this statement in a Hit Tvit broadcast on July 2.

Mitrovic stated that he was fed up with "Russian spies in Serbia":

I have a problem with journalists, every second guest is a Russophile. We will have to change this. I will create a new generation of speakers. Our place is in Europe, not in Asia.

On June 23, the 11th package of European sanctions against Russia was introduced. They, among other things, extended to the Balkan division of the TV channel Russia Today RT Balkan, whose headquarters is located in Belgrade. Its broadcast began in November 2022, eight months after the Russian attack on Ukraine. The Serbian authorities have not yet reacted to this decision.

At the same time, Serbian officials have repeatedly spoken about their commitment to the European path of development. President Aleksandar Vučić noted in June that Serbia is on its way to the EU, and while Vučić is in office, he will not turn away from him.

The President of Serbia acknowledged that ammunition produced in the country could end up in Ukraine. “Is it possible that this is happening? I have no doubt that this can happen,” he said in an interview with the Financial Times. Earlier, from the "drain" of classified Pentagon documents, it became known that the Serbian authorities agreed to supply weapons to Ukraine.
