Vasily Gavrilishen, accused in the case of arson of the military registration and enlistment office in Nizhnevartovsk, was sentenced to 13 years in prison

Vasily Gavrilishen, accused of setting fire to a military enlistment office in Nizhnevartovsk, received 13 years in prison, TASS reports . This decision was made by the Central District Court in Yekaterinburg on June 3.

Gavrilishen was tried under the article on the commission of a terrorist act by prior conspiracy. He will spend the first 5 years of his term in prison, and the remaining 8 in a strict regime colony.

According to the materials of the investigation, the convict, together with another resident of Nizhnevartovsk, Vladislav Borisenko, planned to set fire to the military registration and enlistment office. It is alleged that the order to do this was given to them by a certain Rostislav Mukhin, who is allegedly connected with the Ukrainian special services and offered men from one to three million rubles, “depending on the damage caused.”

Initially, the case of Gavrilishen and Borisenko was joint and took place under milder articles: damage to other people's property and hooliganism. In December 2022, the men's indictment was reclassified and split into two separate cases. On January 31, 2023, Borisenko received 12 years in prison.

First, Gavrilishen confessed, concluding a pre-trial agreement with the investigation. Later, however, he refused them, saying that he signed the documents without looking. At the same time, the man admitted committing arson, but expressed disagreement with the qualification of his actions.

The arson of the military enlistment office in Nizhnevartovsk occurred in May 2022. As reported later, the fire area was one square meter. The fire was quickly extinguished and no one was hurt.

On June 30, the Yekaterinburg Central Military District Court sentenced Aleksey Gashev, accused of setting fire to a military registration and enlistment office in Perm, to 10 years in prison in a strict regime colony.
