RBC: The parking lots of Russian yacht clubs have run out of space due to the influx of ships from abroad

In Russia, a shortage of parking for yachts has begun: only on the Azov-Black Sea coast there are not enough several thousand places, writes RBC. According to the publication, the reason for this is the large number of yachts that their Russian owners bring home from abroad.

“On the entire [Azov-Black Sea] coast there are about 500-600 parking spaces without full service. According to our estimates, the need is at least 10,000 places,” said Olga Shebzukhova, Vice President of the Association for the Development of Yacht Tourism and Marinas. The shortage is also felt in St. Petersburg. So, in the local yacht club "Svetlana" they reported that all 50 available places are already occupied and there is a waiting list.

The founder of the Power of the Wind yachting school, Maxim Pinigin, said that Russia traditionally lacks parking, but now the situation has worsened due to the influx of yachts from abroad caused by sanctions.

“You can’t go to Finland, you can’t go to Estonia, you can’t go anywhere. The load has increased, but in our situation it was initially quite high – we are located in the very center of St. Petersburg. Therefore, we are filled in such a way that if we had two more such locations, we would have filled them too, ”says Oleg Gusev, general director of the Svetlana Yacht Club.
