A Russian court sentenced two Ukrainians to 23 and 24 years in prison in the case of an attempt on the life of the “vice-governor” of the Kherson region

The Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don issued a verdict on two citizens of Ukraine who were accused of attempting to assassinate an official from the occupation administration of the Kherson region, “deputy governor” Vitaliy Bulyuk. According to TASS from the courtroom, Yuri Domanchuk and Vitaliy Skakun were sentenced to 23 and 24 years in prison, respectively.

The prosecutor requested life imprisonment for the defendants.

The assassination attempt on Bulyuk was committed in December last year in Skadovsk, Kherson region. The official's car was blown up by a mine, as a result the driver died, and Bulyuk himself was wounded.

Domanchuk and Skakun were detained on the same day. According to investigators, they used an anti-personnel mine MON-50 for the assassination, and the operation was led by SBU lieutenant colonel Pavel Savitsky. It is alleged that a mine near Bulyuk's house was set by Skakun, and on the day of the assassination attempt, together with Domanchuk, they watched the official. The case against Savitsky has been separated into a separate proceeding, where he is located is unknown.

Vitaliy Bulyuk worked as deputy head of the Kherson Regional Council before the Russian invasion. After the occupation of the Kherson region, he went over to the side of Russia.
