Former deputy head of Rosprirodnadzor Oleg Mitvol was transferred from the pre-trial detention center to house arrest. He is accused of embezzlement of 900 million rubles

The court ruled to mitigate the measure of restraint for Oleg Mitvol, the former prefect of the Northern Administrative District of Moscow and the deputy head of Rosprirodnadzor – he is being transferred from the pre-trial detention center to house arrest, TASS reports .

Mitvol is accused of embezzling 900 million rubles during the construction of the Krasnoyarsk metro. In 2022, on June 8, he was detained in Moscow while trying to fly to Dubai from Vnukovo Airport, after which he was sent to the Krasnoyarsk pre-trial detention center. His detention was extended several times.

The decision to transfer Oleg Mitvol under house arrest was made by the 5th Court of Appeal of General Jurisdiction in response to an appeal by his lawyers. The ex-deputy head of Rosprirodnadzor was sent to a pre-trial detention center in accordance with the decision of the Krasnoyarsk Regional Court.

Mitvol's assistant Inga Shlenskaya says that Mitvol will stay in a rented apartment in Krasnoyarsk, since he is forbidden to leave the city until the end of the investigation. He is also banned from accessing the Internet and making phone calls, and communication is allowed only with close relatives.

On February 2, 2022, Mitvol was urgently hospitalized with a temperature above 40 degrees. According to his wife, Lyudmila, sick detainees were placed in a cell with the ex-official, who “constantly coughed.” Even before the initiation of criminal proceedings, he was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease.
