Jeune Afrique: About 500-600 Wagner PMC mercenaries flew from the CAR capital to Moscow

Jeune Afrique journalists found out that hundreds of Wagner PMC mercenaries flew to Moscow from Bangui, the capital of the Central African Republic, on two flights. Another plane is at the ready, the newspaper writes. Meduza drew attention to the publication.

Earlier it was reported that the Russian authorities decided to take control of Wagner PMC mercenaries abroad immediately after Prigozhin's rebellion. A few hours after Yevgeny Prigozhin announced that the Wagner convoy was turning around and abandoning plans to reach Moscow, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin flew to Damascus to inform Syrian President Bashar al-Assad that the Wagner PMC would no longer operate independently in this country. After that, according to the WSJ, the mercenaries in Syria were ordered to arrive at the Russian base in Latakia, and they complied with it.

At the same time, representatives of the leadership of the Russian Foreign Ministry telephoned the head of the Central African Republic, Faustin-Archange Touadéra. His personal protection is also carried out by Wagner PMC mercenaries. In a conversation with him, the Russian side stated that Prigozhin's rebellion would not affect the work of the Wagner PMC in the Central African Republic.

PMC Wagner mercenaries in the Central African Republic were engaged, in particular, in the extraction of gold and diamonds, and the leadership of the republic also uses their services for personal protection. On July 31, well-known Russian journalist Orkhan Dzhemal, director Alexander Rastorguev and cameraman Kirill Radchenko, who were filming a film about PMC Wagner and Prigozhin's gold mining business, were brutally murdered in the Central African Republic.

The CAR authorities suspect the Seleka rebel group in the murder. As The Insider found out, this group cooperated with a Russian company associated with the St. Petersburg security forces and mining diamonds in the region. Moreover, this company is guarded by a truly Russian PMC, officially called Sewa Security Services and, apparently, is the African “avatar” of Wagner PMC.
