The Belovsky Regional Court of the Kemerovo Region sentenced the former director of the Listvyazhnaya mine, where 51 people died as a result of an explosion in 2021, Sergey Makhrakov, to two years in a general regime colony. It is reported by "Kommersant".
The former director of the mine was found guilty of bribing Rostekhnadzor inspectors in order to avoid inspections at the mine or arrange for formal inspections to be carried out without registering violations. According to investigators, for a year – from September 2020 to September 2021 – Makhrakov handed over bribes in the form of coal "for personal needs" to the inspectors of one of the territorial departments of the Siberian Department of Rostekhnadzor.
Charges in the case of the explosion were brought against several other defendants, including the owner of the mine, the former president of the Siberian Business Union holding, Mikhail Fedyaev.
The accident at Listvyazhnaya in the village of Gramoteino occurred on the morning of November 25, 2021. There was a methane explosion in the ventilation drift. Under the ground were 285 people, of which more than 200 got to the surface on their own. It is believed that a methane-air mixture exploded there. 51 people were killed, including five rescuers.
